Session 1: Making Vadhvan Happen – Increased Role of State Government
Maharashtra is steering one of India’s most ambitious maritime projects—the Vadhavan Port—envisioned as a world-class deep-draft facility and a benchmark for Centre–State collaboration. The session highlights the state’s proactive role in driving this mega-port through integrated planning, policy reforms, and connectivity enhancement. Discussions will focus on investment facilitation, multimodal linkages, sustainable port design, and green growth strategies. With 48 non-major ports, two major ports, and Vadhavan under development, Maharashtra is poised to become India’s maritime growth engine. The session aims to underline Vadhavan’s role in boosting transshipment capacity, attracting private investment, creating employment, and advancing India’s global logistics competitiveness in line with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
Session 2: Maharashtra – Spearheading India’s Shipbuilding Ambitions
This session will spotlight Maharashtra’s expanding role as India’s shipbuilding hub, guided by the newly notified Maharashtra Shipbuilding, Ship Repair & Ship Recycling Policy 2025. The discussion will focus on strengthening the shipyard ecosystem, promoting investment, and deepening industrial linkages with port infrastructure. Maharashtra’s policy initiatives are designed to promote new shipyard clusters, upgrade existing facilities, and foster skill development for a globally competitive workforce. The state’s integrated maritime approach—covering shipbuilding, repair, and recycling—aims to position it as a leading player in India’s maritime manufacturing ecosystem. The session will showcase opportunities for public–private collaboration, infrastructure expansion, and the adoption of clean technologies to drive sustainable growth in the shipbuilding and allied marine industries.
Session 3: Aamchi Mumbai] Water Metro – A Reality in the Making
Maharashtra is redefining urban mobility through the [Aamchi Mumbai] Water Metro, an innovative initiative to decongest Mumbai’s transport network by introducing sustainable water-based connectivity. This session explores the strategic roadmap for implementing a modern and environmentally friendly passenger water transport system within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). With 36 operational routes and 10 new ones under development, the project aims to cut cross-harbour travel time, reduce road congestion, and promote green commuting. The panel will discuss current progress, funding models, technology integration, and environmental safeguards, including hybrid and electric water taxis. The Water Metro represents Maharashtra’s vision for clean, efficient, and inclusive urban transport—aligning with national goals for sustainable coastal mobility.
